Wurstsalad (Bologna Salad)
Germans love bologna. Traditionally children get a slice of bologna when their moms shop for lunch at the butcher stores. Here is what Germans love to eat for dinner:
Take one pack of beef bologna and cut it into thin strips
Chop one small sweet onion
Chop 3-4 big pickles or cut in thin strips
For the dressing:
Combine enough mayonnaise with the liquid from the pickles (directly from the jar) until you have a nice dressing and pep it up with 1-2 tsp of Brewmaster's Malt Mustard
Combine bologna, onions and pickles with the awesome dressing.... and enjoy with some fresh artisan bread.
Hackbraten (German Style Meatloaf)
Chop 2 onions and brown slowly in 2 Tbs of butter
squash 3 gloves of garlic and add to the onions
Set aside and let cool off
Wash and chop a bunch of parsley
Pre-heat oven to 390 F
Take 1 1/2 Ib of ground beef and combine with 2 eggs, parsley, your nice browned onions and garlic and add 1 1/2 cup of bread crumbs. Mix everything with your fingers. Spice up with some salt, black pepper, thyme and.....1 Tbs of Brewmaster's Malt Mustard
Shape a nice loaf (like an artisan bread). Heat some olive oil in a roasting dish and bake loaf for 1 1/2 hours. Don't forget to check the temperature in the center to make sure it's done - must be 180F.
